How can I get great reviews from parents?Updated 17 days ago

Happy families become loyal families.

When you go the extra mile, families take notice and are more likely to add you as one of their Top 3 Favourites so that you’re at the top of their list when it comes to future bookings.

This, ultimately, means more positive reviews and more bookings, directly boosting your earnings.

Follow these tips and you’ll soon become a firm favourite among our families:

1. Be understanding

Parents can be nervous when leaving their children with a sitter, particularly for the first time.

Answering any questions they may have and sharing your experience will help put them at ease.

2. Let them know you're on your way

Always contact the parents 60-90 mins before the booking (or the night before if it's a very early booking).

This reassures them that everything’s OK and gives you both the chance to discuss anything particular you need to know, such as parking instructions, directions or any last-minute changes.

3. Make a great first impression

Arrive on time (or a few minutes early), show your Sitters ID as soon as you arrive, and ensure you're well presented and professional.

Smile! It's so reassuring and will let parents know that you're happy to be looking after their children.

Greet the children by name (if they are not already in bed) and engage with them as soon as possible.

Bring an age-appropriate book, game or toy that you can share with the children. They'll enjoy it and the parents will see you've thought about the children.

4. Go above and beyond

Ask the parent if they have any specific requirements from you or if there are any 'house rules' you need to be aware of.

It's a nice gesture to send the parents a message during the booking to reassure them that everything’s okay.

Where possible, tidy up at the end of the booking to make sure the house is left in the same condition as when the parents left it.

5. Let the parents know how it went

When the parents return, take a few moments to tell them how it went.

Tell them what you did together, what time they went to sleep, whether there was any disturbance, if you read a book together or played a game together.

This will reassure them and they are more likely to think of you next time they need childcare.
