How do I get paid for a booking?Updated a month ago
Payment policy for sitters
- All payments must be made through the Sitters app. Payments are securely transferred to your bank account, typically within 4 working days of the payment being processed. However, if this is your first time using Stripe, please allow up to 7 calendar days for the payment to appear in your account.
- We ask all families to pay their sitter immediately after the booking ends via the app. We recommend checking the timings with the parent at the end of the booking, particularly if you are sitting for a family new to Sitters so you are both in agreement whilst the payment is being made. You will then receive confirmation (by push notification and email) that Stripe has taken the payment to process.
- If the family does not pay at the end of the booking, the automatic payment will try to collect the cost of the booking and we'll let you know when the payment has been successfully taken.
- However, if payment is subsequently declined (e.g. due to a declined card), you will need to follow up with the parent directly to request payment, as Sitters is not obliged to adjudicate on payment disputes, or to compensate either party.
- If a family asks to pay via alternative methods (such as cash or bank transfer), kindly decline and politely remind them that all payments must be processed through the secure Sitters app, this is part of the terms of using the platform. Please do not accept cash or bank transfer payments under any circumstances.
Receiving tips/extras
When paying, the family will be asked if they’d like to ‘Add a tip/extras’. This can include paying for any extra expenses that you had pre-agreed with them in advance of the booking.
There may also be occasions when the parents arrived home later than expected. In this instance, if you rely on public transport, the family may wish to contribute towards the cost of a taxi fare which they can do by adding the agreed amount as an extra.
Please note, tips are optional and at the family's discretion.
