How do I set my hourly rate?Updated 7 months ago

To set your hourly rate, simply visit 'My Account' in the app and select 'Edit my hourly rate'.

When we send you new job offers, we'll use your standard rate to calculate how much you'll earn so you can easily decide whether you want to apply or decline the job.

It's also worth noting that, when you apply for a job offer, you can also amend your hourly rate for a specific booking, by tapping 'Change my hourly rate for this booking' on the Booking Offer Details page, just before you apply for it.

What should I consider when setting my rate?

Ultimately, you should choose a rate, within reasonable guidelines, that you would be happy to receive for the service you provide to the families you meet.

For established Sitters, we recommend you set a rate based reasonably closely to the rate you've been used to receiving from Sitters parents.

For new Sitters, you may want to set an hourly rate at the lower end of what you find acceptable, until you've worked for a few parents and gathered some favourable reviews.

Parents making booking requests have control over who they accept into a booking and one of the things they may consider is your hourly rate of pay compared to other local Sitters. When setting your rate of pay, the app will offer you guidance if you select an hourly rate which is particularly out of line for your area.

When applying for a booking request you'll have the option to vary your regular rate (higher or lower) for a particular booking. But remember, other childcarers who set a rate of pay lower than you may be more successful in getting bookings confirmed. If you find you're not being accepted into many bookings, you may want to consider lowering your hourly rate of pay.
